More Moonstone Lore

Wandering the Internet Forest in search of inspiration. Found this here: http://www.mysticmountainjewelry.com/moonstone.htm

Moonstone is the feminine energy stone. It is a stone of intuition that helps with the total fulfillment of one’s destiny. Moonstone’s energies are soothing and nurturing. It can help calm and prevent over-reactions to personal situations that involve the emotions. The subtle energies of moonstone can help to open and cleanse the heart. They are soothing and healing to the mind, emotions and body.

Vibrating with the feminine wisdom and Goddess energy of the waxing and full Moon, Moonstone has a reflective, calming energy. It helps to strengthen intuition and psychic perception. It brings balance and harmony.

Moonstone is said to have the power to grant wishes.

Although Moonstone is seen as a feminine influence, it can also help balance one’s male and female aspects. This makes moonstone a good choice for men too because many men could benefit from being more sensitive and better able to express love.

In India, Moonstone is considered sacred. It is said to bring good fortune, but more importantly, it is seen as a tool to promote spiritual enlightenment.

Moonstone has a powerful effect on women’s menstrual cycles. Women are cautioned about wearing or carrying moonstone at times of the full moon or when they are menstruating.

Moonstone is a good choice for those born during The Moon of Flowering – (21 May -20 Jun). This is the time to extend perceptions and explore intuition. Those born during this time can benefit from this influence.

Moonstone is a good choice for those born under the zodiac sign of Gemini.

Moonstone

My most treasured piece of jewelry and the only one I might run into a fire to get is my moonstone and amethyst pendant.

It came to me in an interesting way. I was doing a guided meditation once with some online friends. Part of the idea of the meditation was to meet a guide or angel and get a message. I (mentally) walked into a garden and sat on a garden bench with a glorious being. This being gave me an oval stone, whitish and opalescent but with some muted pastel blue/purple color streaks.

I immediately began looking at opals because it seemed to be an opal. But I had no luck finding one.

Soon after, my husband and I traveled out of state for a vaccine trial for his medical condition. While there, we had some free time and we went to a local mall. This mall had the standard stores one would expect except that around a little corner on a quiet stretch there was the most amazing new-age/pagan supply store. I wish I remembered the name. It’s somewhere in Connecticut, near UConn.

Anyway, they had a lovely selection of jewelry and of course I began to look through it. This pendant struck me and stood out from all the rest. The stone was the EXACT replica of the one given me in the meditation a few weeks prior. The oval pearlescent stone was in the middle of the setting and was surrounded by four small round amethyst stones–one at top, bottom, and each side. Very mother-goddess appearing, although certainly not resembling any form other than an oval with four circles.

Of course I had to have it. When I went to pay, I found it was moonstone, and not opal. This sounded so right to me; I couldn’t believe I’d been looking for opal all this time. And of course it made sense now why I couldn’t find the opal to begin with.

When I wear this pendant, I feel so balanced. My energy is correct. Amethyst is another stone to which I vibrate, and I have a plain amethyst pendant that I wear sometimes and occasionally actually use as a pendulum. I wore my amthyst pendant for my Reiki attunements. Anyway, the combination of these stones are very healing to me, and I feel incomplete without them. I recently took a vacation and left the pendant at home because I’d lost one of the amethyst stones (I have bought replacements and replaced as needed).

My energy was off the whole time. I went from the extreme of moodiness to giddiness. I was tired at the wrong times and wired at the wrong times. When I got home the first thing I did was put the pendant back on and I felt much better.

Some things about moonstone I have gleaned from here and there:

  • Moonstone is good for female reproductive issues, pms, cramps, etc
  • It is sacred to moon goddesses and the goddess Diana, who is my namesake
  • It increases psychic energy and emotional issues, as the moon rules the water (and I am a pisces, to boot)

There is much more out there that I just can’t remember at this time.
